Empowering Students for Lifelong Learning

Education at Metro Prep is about more than just academic achievement; it’s about developing the skills and confidence needed for lifelong success. We believe that a holistic approach to learning empowers students not only with knowledge but also with the curiosity, independence, and personal growth required to thrive in any path they choose.

Our academic environment encourages students to approach their education with curiosity, fostering a mindset that embraces both independent thinking and collaborative problem-solving. Students are not simply passive recipients of information—they are active participants in their learning. By engaging with challenging material, asking meaningful questions, and working closely with peers and educators, students develop the critical thinking and adaptability needed to succeed in university and beyond.

Academic Structure

The academic year at Metro Prep is divided into two semesters:

  • Semester 1: September – January
  • Semester 2: January – June

Course Load and Structure

Students typically enrol in four courses per semester. High school students are encouraged to select courses from a variety of disciplines to broaden their knowledge base and keep their university options open.

Evaluation

At the beginning of a course, all students receive the evaluation breakdown. Detailed report cards are issued at midterm and following the final examinations.

In grades 9-12, term work accounts for 70% of the final grade, while the final examination (usually written) accounts for 30%. Detailed report cards are issued at midterm and after final exams.

Preparing Students for a Bright Future

Metro Prep’s academic programs are crafted to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and character needed to succeed in post-secondary education and beyond. Our graduates are recognized for their ability to think critically, communicate effectively, and approach challenges with confidence. Many go on to attend top Canadian universities such as the University of Toronto, McGill, and Queen’s, as well as other leading institutions globally.

Beyond academics, students develop essential life skills such as time management, problem-solving, and adaptability. Through participation in extracurricular activities, leadership roles, and collaborative projects, students leave Metro Prep as capable, well-rounded individuals ready to contribute meaningfully to their communities and thrive in an ever-evolving world.
