House Families
School Clubs
One of the best parts of school happens beyond the classroom.
At MetroPrep, students are encouraged to explore their interests, discover new talents, and build lasting friendships through a wide variety of lunch-hour and after-school clubs.
Whether students are passionate about the arts, music, leadership, STEM, debate, recreation, or community service, there is a place for everyone. Clubs provide a welcoming and inclusive environment where students of all experience levels are encouraged to participate, develop new skills, build confidence, and become active members of the MetroPrep community.
As student interests evolve, new clubs are introduced throughout the year, ensuring there are always fresh opportunities to learn, create, lead, and have fun.
Four Houses. One Community.
Every student is proudly assigned to one of our four House Families, each named after a distinctive region of Ireland:
Connemara House
Dublin House
Galway House
Kildare House
Throughout the year, students earn points for their House through participation, teamwork, leadership, academics, athletics, and community involvement as they work together toward the goal of becoming House Champions.
Building School Spirit
House Families are at the heart of student life at MetroPrep.
Students participate in athletic competitions, creative challenges, leadership activities, community initiatives, and school celebrations that encourage collaboration across grade levels.
These shared experiences strengthen school spirit while helping students develop confidence, communication skills, leadership, resilience, and lifelong friendships.
Whether students are new to MetroPrep or preparing to graduate, House Families create a strong sense of connection and belonging within the school community.
House Challenges
Throughout the school year, students participate in a wide variety of exciting House Challenges that encourage teamwork, creativity, and friendly competition.
Recent activities have included:
- Water Balloon Toss
- Tug of War
- Trivia Competitions
- Three-Legged Races
- Scavenger Hunts
- Charades
- Team Challenges
- House Spirit Competitions
Every challenge gives students opportunities to contribute to their House while creating memorable experiences with classmates and friends.
The competition is always spirited—but the focus remains on participation, encouragement, sportsmanship, and having fun together.

More Than Competition
House Families are about much more than earning points.
They encourage students to:
- Build friendships across grade levels
- Develop leadership and teamwork
- Strengthen communication and collaboration
- Participate in school traditions
- Celebrate each other’s achievements
- Create memories that last long after graduation
Every student has the opportunity to contribute, support their House, and become an active part of the MetroPrep community.
Join the Pride
From the first day of school to graduation, every MetroPrep student belongs to something bigger than themselves.
House Families foster friendships, encourage leadership, celebrate achievement, and create the traditions that make MetroPrep feel like home.
Whether cheering on teammates, competing in House Challenges, or celebrating together at the end of the year, every student becomes part of the proud tradition of being a MetroPrep Lion.
The Metro Houses are alive and well as the tartan tradition continues!
All students have been placed on a House Team and are encouraged to get involved in as many after-school activities as they can.
Points are awarded based on student participation and are averaged out with their academic scores to create an overall House Team Score.
In June, the House with the highest team average wins the coveted Championship Trophy, individual medals, and most importantly, the distinguished honour of being House Champion.
Please see your vice principals, Ryan or Debra, for more information and check back throughout the year for current standings.
May the best team win!
