Public Health Update: Back To School

We hope everyone had a safe and healthy summer! Metro Prep continues to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation to ensure the well-being of our students, staff, and families.

As of August 31, the Government of Ontario’s Ministry of Health has shifted its COVID-specific guidelines to a “respiratory virus” approach. With this change, the mandatory five-day isolation period no longer applies to those who test positive for COVID-19.

For the benefit of the health and safety of our entire school community, Metro Prep would like all students and staff to follow these guidelines:

  • If you have any symptoms of a respiratory illness, stay home until your symptoms have improved for at least 24 hours.
  • If you have a fever, stay home until it is completely resolved.
  • If you have any gastrointestinal symptoms, stay home until your symptoms have improved for at least 48 hours.
  • After isolation, Metro Prep requires that you wear a mask for a period of 10 days (starting from the first day of your symptoms). Students will not be permitted to eat lunch in the cafeteria during this time and will be provided with an alternate lunchroom location.

If you would like additional guidance, please check the latest version of the Ontario School Screening Tool at https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening, which includes specific information for individuals who are immunocompromised.
