Preparing for university is an important milestone in every student’s academic journey. At MetroPrep, that preparation begins well before Grade 12, with personalized guidance to help students explore their options, make informed decisions, and plan confidently for the future.
On October 5, MetroPrep hosted its annual University Information Session, led by teacher and guidance counsellor Jaclyn Kocalevski. The session brought students and parents together to learn more about the university application process, important deadlines, scholarship opportunities, and the range of post-secondary pathways available to MetroPrep graduates.
Helping Students Navigate the University Journey
From selecting the right programs to understanding admission requirements, university planning involves many important decisions. The session provided families with practical information about the application process, key dates, and considerations that can help students prepare for the next stage of their education.
At MetroPrep, university guidance is an ongoing process. Through individualized academic advising, thoughtful course selection, and close collaboration with students and families, the school helps students identify pathways that reflect their interests, strengths, and aspirations.
Connecting Students with Universities
Throughout the year, MetroPrep students also have opportunities to meet directly with representatives from universities across Ontario and beyond. These presentations allow students to explore undergraduate programs, learn about admission requirements, and ask questions about university life.
Students are also encouraged to attend university fairs, campus tours, and open houses to experience different university environments firsthand. With fall open houses taking place throughout October and November, this is an excellent time for students to visit campuses, explore programs, and discover which universities may be the right fit.
We thank all the students and families who attended this year’s University Information Session and contributed to a valuable discussion about the opportunities ahead.
