On Saturday, February 12, 2026, Metro Prep’s Debate Team competed at the Hart House High School Debate Tournament at the University of Toronto, the largest high school debating tournament in the country.
Facing students from across Canada, the team had to build a case on the spot and defend it under strict time pressure. It is a very different kind of pressure than a classroom presentation: there is no script, and the other side is actively trying to poke holes in your argument as you go.
The team had spent the year preparing for exactly this. Regular practice went into sharpening arguments and getting comfortable thinking on their feet in front of a room. Stepping onto a university stage gave them a chance to put that work to the test, and it showed in how they carried themselves through each round.
