On October 29th, Metro Prep’s Grade 7 and 8 students took to the field at the SSAF Flag Football Championships, competing against schools from across the region in one of the more high-energy days on the middle school athletics calendar.

Flag football is a sport that rewards athleticism, quick decision-making, and the ability to work as a unit under pressure. For Grade 7 and 8 students, a championship setting adds another layer: the noise, the stakes, and the experience of competing at the highest level available to them at this stage of their school career.

This group was ready. The team had built toward the competition through gym class and after-school practices, and Coach Christian saw that preparation show up on the day. What stood out to him was not only how the team played, but how they carried themselves: competing with composure and showing respect for opponents and officials in every game.

For many of these students, the SSAF Championships represent their first experience of organised competitive athletics at Metro Prep.
