Senior Boys Basketball SSAF Winter Invitational

The U20 SSAF Winter Invitational was doubly successful as BOTH Metro squads met in the championship game with Metro Gold beating Metro Maroon in the final.

The Maroon team (coached by Dominick Devastey) dominated the first two games, winning by an average margin of 30 points heading to the semifinals. The Gold team (coached by Mark Kucharski) was equally aggressive as they won each game by 20+ points.

The semifinals were a bit of a struggle as the Gold team went down to the wire against an always tough Newton Grove team. On the other end of the bracket, Metro Maroon cruised past the opposition by double digits with all team members scoring at least one basket.

The finals were a return for Coach Kucharski, whose team had previously won the championship against Coach Devastey in 2013. This year’s version of the championship final was no different as Metro Gold took home the banner with strong play by senior team leaders Marko M and Andre G.

Metro Prep would like to thank all of the athletes who participated. It was a great showing and model representation of our school in the spirit of competition.
