What Are You Doing Now?

I am a Senior Addictions Counsellor at GreeneStone Toronto, an outpatient substance abuse treatment clinic in downtown Toronto. I work with adults, adolescents, and families in both individual and group therapy settings.

Greatest Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishments are actually the small moments of progress and realization with my clients every day -- that moment when a client looks at me and says, "I never thought of it that way!" And then I see that new idea turn into real changes in their lives. It's incredibly rewarding. It's why I do the work that I do.

Do you still keep in touch with Metro Prep classmates?

I do! My office is actually in the same building as a fellow Metro-Prepper, so we have lunch together all the time. I also just attended a wedding of a friend from Metro. It was so nice to catch up with everyone that I hadn’t seen. Of my core group of friends, I would say we are mostly still in touch. Facebook helps. :)

How has your time at Metro Prep impacted or influenced your life?

Metro Prep was the first time in my life that I was treated not as a child, but as a member of the community whose input was valued. I have to thank Wayne for that. The school environment taught me that my opinion matters and is valid. This realization has influenced my life in so many ways. Most importantly, I learned to trust my gut and feel confident in my decisions.
