Guest Lecture: The Genome Zoo with Dr. Michael D. Wilson
We are excited to welcome Dr. Michael D. Wilson, Professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto and Senior Scientist in the Genetics & Genome Biology program at the Hospital for Sick Children, as a guest lecturer at the Metro Prep Genius Program on Monday, March 2nd at 10:00 AM.
Dr. Wilson is an internationally recognized researcher whose work combines genomic technologies, computational biology, and comparative genomics to understand gene regulation in development and human disease. His team uses high-throughput experiments and advanced bioinformatics to explore how genes are controlled, how genomes evolve, and how this knowledge can be applied to understanding human health and disease.
In his talk, Dr. Wilson will take students through the genomes of different species, showing how studying animals and other organisms helps us understand human biology and show how cutting-edge research connects to the science they’re learning in the classroom.
