Planning What Comes Next: MetroPrep’s Annual University Information Session

Choosing a university is one of the most important decisions students make during high school—and understanding the process early can make that decision considerably less overwhelming.

On Monday, October 5, MetroPrep will host its annual University Information Session for Grade 11 and 12 students and their parents and guardians.

The session is designed to help families better understand the university planning and application process, the decisions students will face over the coming months, and how they can approach those decisions thoughtfully and strategically.

From Planning to Applications

University planning involves much more than deciding where to apply.

Students need to consider their academic interests, program choices, admission requirements, prerequisites, application timelines and the type of university experience they are looking for. For some students, the right path may be close to home; for others, it may involve universities elsewhere in Canada or internationally.

The University Information Session provides an opportunity for MetroPrep students and families to look at the process as a whole, ask questions and better understand what lies ahead.

For Grade 12 students, the session comes at an important point as university application season begins and choices about programs and institutions become increasingly concrete.

For Grade 11 students, attending provides an opportunity to look ahead. Understanding the process before Grade 12 can help students make more informed decisions about courses, academic priorities and the universities and programs they may eventually wish to pursue.

A Partnership with Families

University planning at MetroPrep is a collaborative process.

Throughout high school, students receive personalized academic advising and university guidance, including support with course selection, university planning, scholarship opportunities, application preparation and career exploration.

The annual University Information Session brings students, families and the school together as that planning moves toward the university application process.

Grade 11 and 12 students and their parents or guardians are strongly encouraged to attend.
